The director of AGENEX, Cosme Segador, the Minister of Health and Social Policies, José María Vergeles, and the managing director of the Social Services System in Extremadura, Consolación Serrano, have signed an agreement through which AGENEX will provide technical advice to the Regional Government of Extremadura for the start-up of policies and measures of energy efficiency in the reform and new construction of health and social assistance buildings in the region.
The agreement is part of the ELENA project of the European Investment Bank, being AGENEX is the beneficiary and thanks to which, the technical staff's advice will have zero cost for the Ministry of Health and Social Policies.
The director of AGENEX, Cosme Segador, indicated that, according to previous studies, "the savings can range between 20% and 30% in most cases, although it will depend on the typology of the buildings".
On the other side, the Regional Minister, José María Vergeles, explained that the first actions that will be performed in the framework of this agreement will be the comprehensive reform planned for the social services and health centers of Mérida and Plasencia and the expansion project of the La Granadilla elder nursing home. "This agreement contributes and is integrated into this central axis of the policies of the Junta de Extremadura, which is the green and circular economy, "he stressed.
On the other hand, the director of AGENEX recalled that after a year and a half of ELENA project, a total of 20 M euros have been invested, mainly in municipalities in the region through collaboration with the Provincial County Councils.
Cosme Segador advanced that a second phase is currently being initiated: To implement energy efficiency criteria in all the buildings of the Regional Administration.
