PROJECT CONTENT AND BASIC INFO

ABSTRACT

The main objective of the iCirBus-4Industries project is to help solve waste management problems from Biomass (Flyimg Ashes) and Water Treatment Plants (Sludge), with a significant impact on the environmentt.

GENERAL

DESCRIPTION

The project will test and demostrate the possibilities of using flying ashes from biomass plants as adsorbent agent for heavy metals and other hazardous organic compounds contained in the sludge of local wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), in order to to use them as low-impact fertilizers. Subsequently, in a second stage, the flying ashes used as adsorbent will be recovered as recyclable construction materials.

 

The project aims to put into practice the concept of circular economy through actions centered on the cascade use of waste from the regional industries of biomass energy and water purification, to become new ecological products validated for the industries of materials of Construction and fertilizers.

 

In this sense, the project proposes an inter-industrial structure of innovative collaboration or "industrial symbiosis" that allows reducing the amount of local waste, increase production in addition to the competitiveness of the regional economy in a sustainable and long term. It also benefits from logistical savings by working at the regional level, and integrates additional efficiency measures for the optimum use of energy, water and materials.

The post-project exploitation strategies and dissemination and communication actions have also been integrated as key actions.
