AGENEX organizes a workshop to support the renovation of public buildings in Extremadura

The Extremadura Energy Agency (AGENEX) held a working session on Monday, April 28, as part of the European FACILITA project, aimed at identifying the current needs of public administrations in promoting the renovation of public buildings in Extremadura. The outcomes of this session will help design an advisory office aligned with those needs within the framework of the FACILITA project.

The event brought together representatives from regional government, municipal technicians, professional associations, and sector experts to present the project and gather firsthand insights into the challenges and demands faced in building renovation processes.

The session was opened by Raquel Pastor, Director General of Industry, Energy, and Mines of the Regional Government of Extremadura, who emphasized the importance of developing tools to help local entities tackle energy and environmental challenges more effectively.

Under the title "Co-creating a One-Stop-Shop for Public Building Renovation," the event focused on identifying barriers, sharing experiences, and collectively designing services that will be included in the future integrated support office. This One-Stop-Shop will provide technical, financial, and legal advice, making it easier for public entities in the region to successfully renovate their buildings.

FACILITA Project

The workshop is part of the early phases of FACILITA, a project co-financed by the European Union’s LIFE programme. AGENEX is one of the project partners, with a budget of approximately €1.5 million and a completion timeline extending to September 2027. Extremadura, along with Madrid and Valencia, is one of three pilot regions where these so-called One-Stop-Shops (OSS) will be implemented.

Through the launch of these regional offices, FACILITA aims not only to accelerate the renovation of the public building stock but also to improve energy efficiency and support progress toward the EU’s 2050 climate neutrality goals.
