Renewable energies and self-consumption

Renewable energies are obtained from inexhaustible natural sources, generating electricity without contributing to global warming. Energy self-consumption is especially interesting due to the high efficiency levels and savings attained.

AGENEX has participated in the conference organized by the European Investment Bank, explaining, as an example of good practices, the experience in Extremadura with the ELENA program.

On February 1, the European Investment Bank (EIB) organized in Madrid the information day of the ELENA subsidy mechanism, in which the Extremadura Energy Agency (AGENEX) has been invited to explain the experience carried out in Extremadura.

39% of the energy produced in Extremadura is already of renewable origin

Extremadura reached an electrical energy production of 26,251 GWh in 2022, which is 6.33% more than in the previous year, a new all-time high, and exceeding regional demand by 561%. The production of renewable origin accounts for 217 percent of the demand. Only with photovoltaic energy is 148% of the regional demand reached.

Extremadura hosts the first Interregional events of the Interreg Europe ShareRES and MonitorEE projects

Both projects are led by Agenex, and deal with important issues in our region such as consumption monitoring in buildings and energy communities.

The AgroRes project concludes successfully, highlighting the importance of RES in the agricultural sector.

The Final Conference of the project brought together in Rome the European partners and main actors who exposed the enormous potential of the sector for the generation of renewable energy and its use in the different production systems.

Extremadura will update this year the Integrated Regional Energy Plan to provide greater coverage for self-consumption and green hydrogen.

In 2022, the record for installed megawatts and investment was broken again and more than 5,000 self-consumption installations were legalized. A new regulation was also approved to regulate the use of lithium and another that declares the production of hydrogen to be of general interest.

Agenex participates in two European projects worth three million euros

The Agenex Assembly has authorized the signing of two projects, SahreRES and MonitorEE, for the active participation of the Energy Communities in the energy system and the monitoring of the energy rehabilitation of existing buildings and their performance.

Extremadura signs an action protocol to promote the development of Hydrogen in the region.

President of the region advances that 2,500 direct jobs would be created, 20,000 during construction, and an investment of 10,000 million euros.

Extremadura continues to lead the development of PV energy in Spain.

For the third year in a row, it exceeds the annual goal of putting around 1,000 new MW into service. With 5,165 MW in operation, it continues to be the first region in terms of installed power.

Agenex launches a pilot project to achieve maximum energy efficiency in various public buildings in Cáceres and Badajoz.

They will share all the energy produced by several photovoltaic installations and a solar façade, thanks to the European Project Innoinvest .

The 1st Summit on the Transition of the Rehabilitation Financing Sector will be held in Madrid.

The final event of the European project AÚNA, which will take place on September 21 and 22 at the headquarters of the Official College of Architects of Madrid, will be attended by 200 agents from the sector.
