The city of Kilkenny hosted the second interregional event of the UNIFHY project, led by the Extremadura Energy Agency and involving partners from five other European countries.
Most of the primary energy consumed in Spain still stems from fossil fuel sources, whereas the Spanish electric system has a high rate of penetration of renewable energies. In this regard, Extremadura is a national and European reference as it produces four times more electricity than it consumes, being mostly free of greenhouse gas emissions, due to a high percentage of renewable energies in its energy mix.
