PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

CSP ERANET is the result of a joint EU will for bridging the gap between research and commercial deployment in the Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology, so this technology can play a main role in the European renewable electricity generation in a medium term.

In recent years, the development of solar thermal technology has slowed down in Europe (there has been no new capacity installed since 2013) and its former world leadership in CSP has been recently threatened by the expansion of this technology outside our borders. In order not to lose competitiveness, the main European countries and regions with roles to play in the future of CSP deployment (industrial or academic stakeholders) have committed their resources to create big-scale funding synergies able to finance strategic CSP research.

CSP ERANET is aligned with the implementation of the SET Plan, which has established the following objectives for the development of solar thermal technology:

To reduce the cost of investments by 40% in the short term, translating into a reduction in the cost of supply.
To develop a new generation of CSP technology through new cycles, with the aim of further reducing the cost and obtaining new business opportunities in the long term.
